A short list, kept honest
Last updated: September 1, 2026
TabRank exists because "best browser games" lists are mostly written by people who opened the game once. We wanted the opposite: fewer games, more hours, one scale.
Who we are
We are three people who have played browser games since the days when a strategy game meant a text table and a refresh button. Between us we cover strategy and tycoon games, action RPGs and space MMOs, which is roughly the whole browser-game landscape worth talking about. Nobody on the team works for a publisher.
How a game gets on the list
- It must run in a browser, free, without a download. Optional clients are fine; required ones are not.
- Two of us play it for at least 20 hours each, across several weeks, including at least one event cycle.
- We score it on four criteria with fixed weights. The method is public on the How we review page.
- 7.0 is the bar. Under that, the game is not listed, no matter how popular it is.
- We come back. After a major update, or every six months at most, one of us replays and confirms or changes the score.
How we make money
Some "Play" buttons are affiliate links. If you register through one, the publisher may pay us a fee. That is the only income the site has. Reviewers finish scoring before affiliate links are added, and the ranking is sorted by score alone. A game we rate poorly does not get listed regardless of the deal on offer.
What we don't cover
Mobile-only games, downloadable clients, anything with real-money gambling, and games that require payment to progress past the first week. If a game we list drifts into one of those categories, it comes off.
